A major catch up !!

And yet again I have failed at my blogging duties.  I blame twin brain.  #1. I can't comfortably reach the keyboard anymore. #2. I think up all these great posts but when push comes to shove,  Oh LOOK!! Squirrel!!    lol!  I swear these babies have made me soo ADD it's not even funny!

So here we sit at 1 day shy of 35 weeks!  Further than we made it with the last set of twins (born 34w3d).  My Doc assures me that typical gestation is 35 weeks and each day is a victory.. So I'll take it :)

Let's try to play catch up...

Naturally having preggo brain I've probably forgotten half of what I should have posted but we'll just have to deal with it.    This pregnancy has been super smooth!  No bedrest whatsoever!!  Remember last time?  Bed rest at 29weeks!   It still amazes me that I got away with none this time!  Awesome!

So let's go back to 25wks preggo.  We had been trying to figure out a time that both parents could come and do a 3d u/s but it just wasn't working out.  So I went with my bestie T and we did one and gave them the pics/videos for their baby shower present! Lol!

Things moved along fairly well. Every ultrasound showed each little girl in a different position but never head down.  Stinkers!  I actually contributed this towards not dilating and contracting early like I did with the Spanish Twins.  They were always head down and that pressure on the cervix had to be doing something.   Not these girls, they are happy to float along, usually transverse and almost always with their little heads together like they are telling secrets!  We have soo many pics of just their little heads together. I LOVE IT!! :)

28 weeks came and the lovely Glucose test -- which I failed by 9 measly points! ARGH!! What the heck?? I've never failed one!  So I got to do the lovely 3hr at my 30wk appt. Which I PASSED!  Ha!  Take that stupid glucose test!! :)

The fun thing at my 30week appt was that I was able to schedule it so I got the awesome u/s tech!  She even gave us a little 3D pic preview! Woohoo!  She is awesome!

For some reason no one seems to be able to see Baby B's pic but to me it's perfectly clear. lol.  It's a side shot and she has her arm curled up under her head..  Aren't they adorable?!   I love how much they look like real babies in these pictures!!! :)

Our next appt was at 32w5d - after having had some contractions off and and the dr decided to check my cervix.  It was just 1 cm so we weren't too concerned! :)  This is my 5th pregnancy after all !  All in all things were going good!

Fast Forward us to last friday ( 34wk2d).  Jill (IM) and her MIL were able to come to the appt!  This one was especially nerve racking because I had to work soo hard to make sure that I didn't slip up and say the babies names.  Only Mom, Dad & I know the names and Gma was hoping with everything that we would slip up. lol.   We made it thru the day with no slip ups though! HA! :)   So we had another u/s with the great u/s lady!  Both babies were measuring right at 5lbs (A was 5lb 2oz, B was 4lb 14oz) and both were head down!  First time EVER!  How cool!  Of course these girls like to do somersaults like there's no tomorrow so I wasn't confident that they'd stay there. lol. They are soo active it's not even funny!  After the u/s we saw the dr.  We discussed the pros & cons of getting the steroid shots (I feel nervous not having them if I'm dilating at all b/c I constantly worry about when to go to the hospital with contractions -- soon enough for shots but I hate being sent home.) Dr told us that they are only good for like 2 weeks which we didn't realize so she would give them if we really wanted them but would prefer we wait until she felt we were closer to delivery so they didn't wear off too soon.  We all agreed with that! :)   Then we discussed birth options.  We have always been pro- vaginal birth.  I've never had a c-section and don't particularly want one.  The last twins were vaginal births, so I'm hoping these are as well.  Still we went over the scenarios.

1. Baby A Breech = c-section

2. Baby A & B head down = go for it! We always have the risk that B flips after A is out but the do their best to prevent that.

3.Baby A head down but B transverse -- now this one I don't recall which as which but dr says if B is transverse but facing down then she could try to rotate her into position and deliver.  If B was transverse but facing up then it was risk to rotate and would do a breech birth. (note- those two scenarios could be flipped, I don't remember which was which now. lol).

4. Baby A head down but B breech = could do a breech extraction b/c they don't rotate a breech baby due to possible cord issues.  I did not know this!

So after researching breech extraction (eek) and the possible complications for both the baby & me, Jill and I agree that we'd rather not risk it.  I worry about Baby B's spine getting injured or her head getting stuck and ending in cuts that could cause me more issues too.   So as of right now, the plan is if both are head down we are going for vaginal.  If any other scenario, then we'll opt for the c-section as the safer option.   Whew..

Anyhoo after this long discussion with the OB,  Jill & MIL stepped out so she could check my cervix. Fun times!!  After a few moments, dr looks at me and says well you are getting steroids today!  Apparently my cervix was now 3.5-4cm!  oops!! After a few minutes of discussing, we decided that I would head to the hospital on Sunday (dr was on call then) and get the first shot and another check, then back to the office on Monday for my 2nd shot.   You know what they say about the best laid plans, right??

After the fun cervical check (at 9am!) I spent the rest of the day with my back just killing me. I could not get comfortable and had some noticeable contractions but mainly just a horrible back ache.  MIL had mentioned that she had back labor for Nate (dad) and we all wondered if that was what was going on.  So after talking to the nurse line, I headed to the hospital just in case for a check.

L&D trip #1 -  We got triage 3 (ha! same a with the last twins!) Now by the time we went in, I wasn't feeling a lot of contractions just mainly back pain. Just pretty uncomfy.  We got upstairs and got all hooked up to the monitors. My BP was a bit high for me (130/77) which I guess just proves I wasn't comfy? lol.  Our nurse was super nice but I feel maybe a bit new? She put the contraction monitor way high where it wouldn't pick anything up anyway.  After a bit of no contractions she went ahead and did a cervical check - announced my cervix was really hard to find (my dr says WTH? you have the easiest cervix in the world to find!) and decided that I was still the same dilation as this morning with the dr.  We did go ahead and get the first steroid shot and was told to come back the next night fo the 2nd one.

Horrible backache , some contractions on Saturday until it finally tapered off that evening (Go figure).  I arrived at the hospital for the next shot.

L&D trip #2 - We showed up for our shot and another very pg lady showed up with us and let me just say I think she waited a tad too long before showing up.  This woman was ready to go! lol!  She got in the wheelchair (I elected to walk) and we waited for the guard to show up and escort us up to L&D.  Meanwhile her husband said he'd just run out to the car and turn it off but he really went to the car, parked it, grabbed the bags ect.  So our guard showed up and the husband was MIA.   Our very pg lady said a few choice words and we decided to leave him behind and get her upstairs!  So off we go!  We just got into the elevator when the guard shack calls to tell our escort that the husband is on his way.  Again more choice words (and lots of moaning) from our pg lady.  We waited a minute or so but apparently the husband got lost and we left him. lol.  Poor woman, I felt for her.  I know that husband is going to get it when she gets her hands on him!  She kept saying- he was just supposed o turn the car off. *&^**&^&  lol.

So we arrive up in L&D and they whisk pg woman off to her room.  They asked me if I was having any contractions to which I said nope, not at this time!  So they decided that rather than go thru an entire triage process again, I could just go down to the ER and get my 2nd shot.   Works for me!

Downstairs to ER we went.  While we were waiting, a man came in all hyped up telling the receptionist that his wife was in labor!! (apparently he didn't do a tour and didn't know that you don't go to the ER b/c L&D has it's own entrance).  He went back to get her out of the car with a wheelchair.  In comes this calm woman. She calmly tells them she's 41wks, having contractions every 3-5mins. Her husband comes bouncing back in with a bag of McD's (omg ya'll ! They stopped at McD's for food on the way! LOL) and they are taken upstairs.   It was just hilarious the complete difference between the two situations.

So I got my shot and home again we went.    Sunday was another day of some back ache... some contractions (about 20mins apart) which eventually just tapered off.    I woke up Monday feeling great! I had actually slept for 7 hours and no contractions or back ache! Wooohoo!!

Onto our next dr appt  (now 34w5d). BP was up a bit again (135/80) but I had a headache.  Dr assured me that it was a bit high for me but wasn't high enough for them to be worried yet.  Belly measured 46weeks :)   Then for our cervical check --  apparently all those sporadic contractions over the weekend were doing something.  From 3.5-4 on Friday to 4.5 (possibly 5) on Monday.   Ooops!

And that's where we sit today.  Another appt tomorrow, if I get any further dilated my dr suggests a hotel close to the hospital b/c I have an hour drive from home. She thinks they will arrive within a week....  We shall see.  Things have been pretty calm the rest of yesterday and today so I think these girls are just chillin out.  Get everyone riled up and then sit back and giggle together.. lol.

Until next time...

19weeks #GestationalSurrogacy #ultrasound #Twins

It's been a while since I've checked in here.  I'm now 19wk2days!  We are over halfway to the finish line!!  With this being another twin pregnancy, my OB typically doesn't let you go past 37wks.  So definitely halfway!! :)

Things are going well!  We had an ultrasound at 17w6d.  My lovely IM was able to come down for it and her Momma! :)  It was great to get to meet the babies' grandma! :)   Unfortunately we got the icky ultrasound tech.  I had her one time early in the pregnancy of the last twins and didn't care for her.  Her bedside manner is just less than ideal (she doesn't tell you anything that she's doing and pretty much ignores the room while doing her scans).  This just taught us not to schedule another ultrasound on a Tuesday! lol! :)

All in all the babies look great!! Baby A is(was at the time) on my right side and BREECH.  Baby B on the left slightly angled and also BREECH!  What is up with this whole Breech thing girls?  Never in my history of carrying babies have I ever had one present breech at ANY time in the pregnancy.  These girls just want to go out with a bang! :) LOL   There is still PLENTY of time for them to flip around so I'm not too concerned..  Just seems a typical finding with these little divas :)   Oddly enough I realized later that the u/s tech never did any gender shots.  We obviously know via PGD testing that our little Divas are girls but it still seems odd that she didn't verify that for the record.  LOL.

Here's a peek at them :

Baby A is doing what I believe is the duck face.  I think she must be practicing for some facebook selfies! :)   Baby B has her little arm/hand up under her head just relaxing!  Apparently their big brother always sleeps like that - how cute!! :)

According to the measurements Baby A was 1 day ahead with a heartrate of 158 and Baby B was 2 days behind with a heartrate of 144 but somehow they both were estimated to weigh (both 7oz) the same amount?  Go figure!   We also asked the tech about the placenta since we had that tiny bleed issue back at 14wks and were told we had a partial previa.  She assured us that it had moved out of the way - no worries.

Off we go to see my Dr who announced that both babies looked wonderful !  Both were currently breech (yup, we know!) and Baby A's placenta is now completely covering the cervix (plus slightly anterior).  WHAT?  The ultrasound tech told us it moved??  Apparently the report says complete previa.  BLAH.   So now we cross our fingers that this moves out of the way as my uterus grows (cuz we know there's still a LOT of growing to do!).  I'd rather not have a c-section with this last pregnancy! LOL!  Plus with the placenta where it currently is (anterior) the OB would have to cut thru the placenta to deliver baby A.  Uhmm, no thanks - not what I'm looking for in a birth experience.   Fingers crossed things move along like they should.  Right now these little Divas are trying to do everything they can to guarantee a csection with the previa and both breech.  But I'm sure if I explain things nicely they'll try to get with the program! :)

I have another OB appt next week - no clue why the dr decided to see me in 2 wks vs 4wks but I do what she says. lol.    Other than that bp was great, urine clear!  We're cruising along just great!

Now if those babies would just agree to let me quit puking!  They have let up quite a bit, but usually at least once or twice a week they jump up and scream- HA JUST KIDDING! GO puke! :)  Boogers anyway :)

19 Weeks

Sources say the babies are now the size of a largo mango (or for those who prefer a non-fruit comparison a square kleenex box).  Arms & legs are finally in proportion, while neurons are now connected between the brain and muscles and cartilage throughout the body is turning to bone.  Serious upgrades going on in there!  It's estimated that movement should be felt between 18-21 weeks depending on a ton of factors.  So far I can feel some kicks and jabs if I'm laying quietly in bed but rarely do I feel tons of movement when I'm up and about :)

14 weeks :)

Hello my friends!  It's hard to believe we are finally 14 weeks and in the 2nd trimester! Woot!!  This have been moving along well.  I had some spotting on Monday and went into the dr for a check up on Tuesday.  I wasn't having any cramping so I wasn't super concerned but spotting is spotting and it's not normal!

First thing they did was an ultrasound! :) Yay! It's always so nice to see them ! Good news is that the babies are both looking wonderful.  Heartbeats were great and they were moving around (I can't wait to be able to feel that movement!!).  Both babies were measuring 2 days ahead (14w1d) .They are still laying in there stacked on top of each other like in little bunkbeds.  Silly girls! There's plenty of room, spread out!! :)   The u/s tech was able to determine that the spotting was due to one of the placentas being low lying and a tiny partial previa.  I've been told to expect spotting off and on but for now it's not a big worry b/c it's still very early and the placenta can move as my uterus grows.   I've spoken with several other friends who had the same issue and theirs all moved well before delivery.  And so we just watch it.  :)

Baby A was nice enough to give us profile shot :)

Baby B decided we should only get a front on skeletal view.. lol ;)

 14 Weeks -

At 14 weeks the babies are each the size of a lemon (or for those that like non-fruit comparisons - the size of a rubix cube). The sources say that morning sickness should be easing away and my appetite should be reappearing.  To those sources I say- try having twins.  Still taking my meds and still puking despite them a few times a week.  The appetite is pretty much non- existent but occasionally I have a moment of hunger :)

  • Baby's probably thumb sucking and wiggling his or her toes in there!
  • Baby's kidneys are making urine, and the liver and spleen are doing their jobs too.
  • And baby's growing lanugo, a thin, peach-fuzz-like hair, all over— it'll help keep the body warm!

1st Ultrasound!

The ultrasound was ....  interesting.

Both IPs were able to make it, along with their 3yo son :) It was a fun day!! We had lunch and then went off to our appointment!

Naturally as soon as I got there I had to pee.  I mean I was bouncing around in line waiting to check in I had to pee so bad. lol!  Got checked in and she told me to go ahead and sneak back and pee in a cup but ask the nurse to be sure.  I went right back and asked my nurse who is all "Let me make sure you don't need a full bladder for your ultrasound first."  I'm like dude, if you need a full bladder for my transvaginal ultrasound there are going to be some problems in the ultrasound room.. lol.  She finally came back and gave me the okay to use the restroom.

OMG I felt soo much better!  As soon as I came out of the bathroom the ultrasound tech was there and was ready for me so I quickly grabbed the IPs and we all went back.

We start the ultrasound and techie is like Your bladder is really full.  Hello? I just peed!! Literally!  She ended up making me go try again. LOL!   How many times does that happen?

Finally settled back on the table, bladder relieved yet again.

And the ultrasound showed :

1 bigger looking sac with 1 heartbeat just beating away at 104 bpm, measuring 2.3mm - currently Baby A

1 smaller looking sac (posterior so makes it harder to see and the dot of an embryo isn't actually visible in this picture) with 1 heartbeat beating away at 107bpm, measuring at 2.4mm - currently Baby B

Also in the large sac is "something".  No heartbeat was noted at this time so it looks like Baby A embryo split into two but we are unsure if the other one took off.  I mean at this stage they are literally the size of a sesame seed - so TINY.

I go back Jan 20 (8wks pg) for another ultrasound to count heartbeats. lol.  So who knows at this point!  Ahhh!

I think we all expected 2 with the beta numbers but 3? the ride home was more in shock. LOL!

I know I asked for prayers and good wishes that this all worked but people- you can uncross your fingers now.. We're good! LOL!

Weeks 24/25

** For some reason the picture Gods are not smiling down upon me today.  I cannot get the ultrasound  or big belly pictures to upload..  I'll try again later ! *

Okay I know I promised to update last weekend after the ultrasound.. But I think by now we all know and expect me to be late.. ha!!

24w 6days today..  Exactly 3months (May 23 to Aug 23) until 38 weeks!!  Woohoo :)

Soo I know you are all wondering how the ultrasound went last week.

The babies are doing wonderfully..  Baby Boy was napping - as usual for him.  I swear this boy is going to never sleep again when he comes out (his poor Momma!!).  The bigger surprise was that Baby Girl was actually cooperating nicely :)   She wasn't her normal feisty self - definitely more active than her brother but quite a bit more calm !

Baby Boy was measuring 1 day ahead (24wks) and weighed in at a whopping 1lb 8oz!  Look at him grow!  In the past he was always 2 days behind so he gained 3 days.. He was in the 54% for singletons!

Baby Girl was measuring  2 days behind (23w 4d) and weighed in at 1lb 7oz !!  She's letting her brother become her big brother finally :)

The dr was very pleased with both their weights!  In fact they are bigger than some singletons in my pregnancy group who are the exact same gestation!  I guess no one informed these guys that they are twins! :)     My Dr is still saying that she'll be happy to make it to 34 weeks and thinks they should be 4-5lbs each by then if they keep up with their growth.   I'm still hoping for 37-38weeks.

I'm giggling inside looking at the tickers below saying that the twins are roughly 1 1/2 lbs each now when they were that size LAST week.. ha!   Monster Twins are at it again ! :)

I don't go back to the OB until June 13 for my 28week labs.. The lovely glucose test.. Ick..  Then every 2 weeks with growth ultrasounds! :)  I love getting to see the little monsters , especially when we catch such adorable pictures of them !!  Ohh and we got to see them practicing swallowing :)  Adorable !

Other than that, not a lot to update.  The hormones have been getting to me lately and I'm a big blubbering mess.. ha.   Preggo brain has struck.  I walked into the Dollar store the other day and immediately forgot why I had went in.. Naturally I almost burst into tears (dang hormones) because I couldn't remember what it was.. lol.   Babies are sucking my brain cells away :)

24 Weeks Pregnant

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at about 1 1/3 pounds. (Unless you are a set of Monster Twins then you will be even more!) Since he's almost a foot long (about the size of an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

17-18 Weeks

* Side note- Yes, I am writing this very VERY late but it seemed easier than writing one big massive post to catch up.. lol*

My IPs were able to visit this week!  Yay!!  We had a wonderful time together!  I think everyone was a little nervous that the language barrier would get in the way but we did a great job of understanding each other!   I love their sense of humor :)

17weeks +4days ~ we went to our big OB appt.. The Gender ultrasound!! Woohooo!   I am always amazed to see those little ones in there squirming around but I know it was extra special for my IPs to be able to see it in person for the first time!   I won't lie, tears were shed just a little.  ha..

We have two very healthy babies!  Baby A (they switched spots from the beginning) was measuring perfectly on target and Baby B was measuring 2 days ahead.. Always the show off! :)   Both babies weighed approx. 7 oz !!   Amazing for twins !  Grow babies Grow!   The anatomy scan went great.  All fingers and toes accounted for.  Brains and hearts looked wonderful :)  The only issue- if you can even call it one- is that not one but BOTH placentas are anterior (attached to the front of my uterus / stomach vs near the spine which is more normal).  This really only comes into play if we have to have a c-section.. Then there is additional risk of bleeding due to cutting thru a placenta.

I'm sure you are dying to know what we have in there aren't you??  Drumroll please....

Baby A is :

 And Baby B is :

How amazing is that?? My awesome IPs get one of each!  Perfect!!  Our little girl is the feisty one. She's the one that was always bouncing on her head and at dr appts is constantly moving.  Our little boy is calm and laid back.. He'd prefer to sleep and lounge around..  Ha!  It will be interesting to see what their personalities are like once they are here!

After our u/s appt, we met with my OB and my IPs had a chance to get to know her a little.  She does speak Spanish but it's not her first language..  Her nurses, however, are native speakers and so that was really nice!  We discussed again how far I'm going to be able to go..  She said they'd probably induce me if I hadn't went into labor by 37weeks.   I was able to barter with her a little and get her up to 38 weeks.. HA!   Of course when the time comes I'll probably be so miserable one week won't matter but I want nice big healthy babies!

Pregnancy history --
1st pg went into labor at almost 42 weeks.  Ugh.  Darn kid did NOT want to come out..
2nd pg - induced at 39w5d  - no signs of labor..
3rd pg - induced at 39w 4d - no signs of labor..

So I tend to have a history of hanging onto babies.. With twins everything changes though.. So we shall see. I would really like to go into labor on my own and not be induced this time but not until we are at least 37 weeks! LOL!  Hoping these babies cooperate! :)

After the OB appt, we went to the hospital to talk with them & get a tour of the labor/delivery area.. I have heard wonderful things about this hospital!  The staff seemed very nice - although no one spoke Spanish :(    The only area we didn't see was the OR due to sanitary reasons.. We will have to deliver in the OR just due to it being twins.   They did say that normally they only allow 2 people max in the OR with me but IF does NOT want to be in for the delivery so it should work out okay.. lol.    I love that our hospital allows the parents 1hour after birth of bonding time.  Skin to skin contact to bond before doing anything else with the babies.  Woohoo- Snuggle time !!

Before my IPs left to head home, we were able to do a 3D ultrasound.  It was so much fun. The place had huge plasma screens all over to view the u/s on.  They had couches for family to sit and watch.  Loved it!   They were even so accommodating to put IMs name on the u/s pics that they printed out !  I was so thrilled that she was able to get some u/s pics of HER babies with HER  name on them! :)  Naturally we were still really early in the pregnancy and the babies don't have any fat on them so we didn't get the real cute profile shots.. But we did get a few cute ones.. Baby boy was sleeping (again) and his sister kept hitting and kicking him in the head.. lol.    At this point, I could only feel little bits of movement  - no real kicks or anything yet.    I plan on going back around 30+ weeks to get some cute profile pics once they have fattened up a little ;)

Baby girl all spread out.. Hand behind her head-- Posing like a Diva :)

A little blurry-  baby girl on top, baby boy on bottom. She's spooning him :)

They were so cute at this appointment.  The laid right on top of each other most of the time.  ha. Adorable little ones.

I loved this picture..  From the beginning we always had one ultrasound picture with both babies in it. Now they were finally big enough that all we could fit in the picture was their heads! :) ha!

17 Weeks Pregnant :

Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip - ha ha our babies were 7 ounces!), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

18 Weeks Pregnant :

Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long, and he weighs almost 7 ounces (about the size of a bell pepper). He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

Week 10 Update

Hi everyone!!  Happy Valentine's Day!!

I had an OB appt on Wednesday and got to see the babies again..  My oldest daughter says they look like little turtles.. HA!  I may have to nickname them Turtle A and Turtle B :-)

Everything is looking great!  Baby B's gestational sac was much smaller in previous ultrasounds but he/she has caught up and they look very similar again.   It was amazing to see how much they have changed.. Baby A was very active- bouncing around on his/her head constantly and waving little arm buds at the camera!!  It's amazing to watch!!

I've lost a little bit of weight..  Morning sickness with Twins is double the fun.. ugh.  But my dr was nice enough to give me a few more samples to help with it.. My fingers are crossed that I only have another week or two before it should let up!!

Stats:
Twin A -  Measures 10Weeks 6days (43mm) with a heart rate of 173

Twin B- Measures 10Weeks 4days (40mm) with a heart rate of 178

They are driving me crazy trying to guess which Twin is the girl and which is the boy.  I keep hoping that their heart rates will differ enough to try and guess.  Right now they both seem like girl heart rates to me.. :-)

Side note- I was exactly 10weeks 4days at the appt so as usual Twin B is right on target while Twin A is a little overachiever and 2 days ahead of schedule!

Now for the fun part..  Some ultrasound pics of the itty bitty ones:

Look how cute they are together!!  It looks like twin A is smacking Twin B on the butt (twin B is upside down).. HA!!  I got home and realized that they were making a perfect heart shape!!  I couldn't resist but make a Valentine's day card for my IPs :

Please excuse  my poor heart drawing.. ha..  It's the thought that counts!!

No more doctor appointments for an entire month!!  Hopefully these babies calm down a little and start liking the stuff I eat.. ha.   I am officially 100% in maternity clothes even though I've lost weight..  Weird huh?!  Talk to you again soon !!

Weight Gain:  -3lbs

Ultrasound #2 Update

I'm really really slow at updating.. Sorry guys!  I swear these babies make me want to sleep non-stop! ha.

I had my second ultrasound on Tuesday (1/21) and everything is looking good!  The babies are both growing right along and have excellent heartbeats!   I had to go to a different office (same OB) because they couldn't fit me into the schedule at my normal office and the IVF clinic wanted the second ultrasound done at a certain time.  (Demanding much?).  I didn't care as much for this ultrasound tech. She didn't get as good of pictures and kept commenting over and over on how Baby A's  bubble (gestational sac) was so much bigger than Baby B's.  Grrr!   For the record- the RE said that it is perfectly fine and not to worry.  Everyone is assuming that Baby A just implanted a few days ahead of Baby B.  Baby B still has a perfectly fine little 'house' , it's just that Baby A's is more of a mansion vs a cottage.

Anyway, the stats :

Baby A -  measuring 13.3mm , 7w5d with a heart rate of 150

Baby B - measuring 10.9mm, 7w2d with a heart rate of 156

For the record , I was 7w3d so as usual Baby A is just showing off and being an overachiever!   Everything is looking fine! Yay!  Also, I somehow managed to gain a pound! ha!

I am not officially released from the IVF clinic and can now finally continue on as a normal pregnant person.  I am still on my progesterone gel, estrogen pills (switched from patches b/c they were killing my skin), & baby aspirin until Feb 16.

My first official OB appt is Feb 12 and she is going to give me yet another ultrasound just to check on the babies gestational sacs and sizes.

Until then, Morning sickness is horrendous but I have a great pill (ob said it was basically B12 vitamin & antihistamine) which is working wonders but makes me sleepy.. ARGH! Just what I need, to be even more sleepy! ha!

That's it for now!  I'll try to check in before the next appointment if this sleepiness ever lets up!  I think I'm going to have to invest in a laptop if I ever want to get any work done! lol!

First Ultrasound News...

Hello everyone!!  We have a new reader among us!  Welcome Anne!!

We finally had our first ultrasound yesterday!  I had a small bit of bleeding on Sunday but was assured that all was okay because it stopped and I had no cramping ect..  Still I think we all had a little bit of nervousness in the back of our heads.

My bestie went with me to the ultrasound and was able to tape record it for my IPs.  Toward the end, the ultrasound tech realized she was taping and said "You aren't allowed to videotape anything " and pointed to a sign on the wall.. Ha.  Too late now.  We were able to get the heartbeats on tape for my IPs to hear.. LOVE IT!

Here's a picture of the ultrasound :

As you can see, we have two little creatures growing in there!!  YAY!  Not the best of pictures since I took a picture of the u/s.  lol.  Bascially  Baby A is in one position while Baby B is in a different..  They actually both measure pretty close to the same!

Baby A - 6.9mm long   Heartrate - 121bpm
Baby B - 5.6mm long   Heartrate - 120 bpm

At the time of the ultrasound, I was 6w4d pregnant... Baby A is an overachiever measuring at 6w5d! Baby B is right on target at 6w4d.

The questions we asked :
1. Why is Baby A's  "bubble" (as my oldest daughter called it) bigger than Baby B's ?
Answer - mostly positioning of the ultrasound wand.. Also, it's possible that Baby A implanted earlier than Baby B.  I am guessing that Baby A was the hatching embryo so he (or she) had a headstart!

2. Can we tell if they are identical or fraternal.. ie.. Did one embryo take and split or did both embryos take.
Answer - If both were in the same sac (they are not), then we would know for sure that they were identical.  Because they are not, there is no way to tell if they are identical or fraternal until we have the gender ultrasound at closer to 20weeks.   I am going with the theory that they are fraternal because I like to think that they both took! lol!  One boy, One girl.. :)   Oh and while we are at it.. Ms.Random and I have decided that Baby A must be the boy because his "bubble" is bigger and he's just being a normal boy showing off ! ha !

And that is the ultrasound news!!  I have one more ultrasound next week (Tuesday) to check growth.  And then I can finally be released from FCI and be able to just be a normal pregnant person and not so micro-managed.. AT LAST!

Symptoms-
Tired.. So very tired.  I would like to just sleep all day.  and all night.  ha!
Nausea..  Still a constant in my life.   I'll be happy for that to go away!

Weight Gain- Nada.   yay!
